The Sinulog Festival is one of the most famous and most colorful festival in the Philippines. It is held in the Queen City of the South, Cebu City every 3rd Sunday of January in the honor of Señor Santo Niño de Cebu. The Sinulog Parade was first organized on 1980 by the Regional Director of Ministry of Sports and Youth Development (MYSD) , David S. Odilao. It was believed that the native people were already dancing the sinulog basic step : two steps forward and one step backward before the spanish people came to our country.

The Sinulog Festival magnets million of tourist from different regions of the world. It seemed tourist attraction because of the nature of its beauty. Many balikbayan practice to go back home during the festival to celebrate it too.
The Sinulog Festival highlights nine day novena, Sinulog sa Kabataan one week before the Sinulog, Fluvial Parade where the Holy Niño is place on a glass case and carried by a ship towards Lapu Lapu City early morning on the eighth day, Grand Procession on the afternoon. Even if it took almost five hours walking with heavy rain still devotees of Señor Sto. Niño follows the procession, young or old, rich or poor everyone is equal in this moment. Most of all is the Sinulog Grand Parade & Grand Mardigra on the Sinulog day consist of outbound Contingents form different neighbor city in the region.
Beats, Trumpets, Drums, Colorful Costumes,Graceful Dance Steps, a long Street dances, Street parties,Lined-Food Vendor, unbreakable lines of people, Face paintings, Floats, Henna tattoos simply illustrate how jolly, hilarious and cheerful the Sinulog Festival is.
